The Blackburn Muslim Burial Society (BMBS) has been established as an organisation to provide advice and support for issues related to bereavement for the Muslim Community of Blackburn. Founded in 2018, it was our vision to create a group that will ease the stress upon families dealing with a bereavement; we know this extremely emotional situation is a difficult time.

Our team has more than 100 years of combined experience in dealing with funeral services for the Muslim community of Blackburn. Each member is well versed in the funeral processes determined by BwD council and the local Masaajids and trained to receive each case with utmost professionalism, respect, spirituality and discretion. BMBS have set up clear lines of communication with local mosques, clinicians, coroners, registrars, hospitals, and the cemetery teams. This ensures that the Islamic rights of your loved ones can be fulfilled in an efficient, stress-free and respectful manner.

It is our duty to serve the Muslim Community of Blackburn by supporting you in the sad, but inevitable, circumstance of death. We are here to help and guide you through this emotional period of your life. Rest assured that there is always a member of our team available who can support you with any of your individual concerns regarding bereavement and funeral processes.

Abu Huraira narrates:

I heard Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) saying, “The rights of a Muslim on the Muslims are five: to respond to the salaam, visiting the sick, to follow the funeral processions, to accept an invitation, and to reply to those who sneeze”. (Sahih al Bukhari, Book 23, Hadith 4)
